Re: Rating Chip Question
In Response To: Re: Rating Chip Question ()

Hi Paul, you stated you “I care less if a chips is rated 35 or 36, or 93 or 94. If necessary, just tell me outright, in one or two words what you feel the condition of the chips is. Worn? uncalculated, dirty, clean, or whatever”.

The point I’m trying to get across is using a phrase such as “worn” doesn’t tell you how worn the chip is. What worn to someone might not be for others? All chips can be considered worn unless they came off the table the 10 minutes after put into play. And a chip being clean or dirty can be seen in the scan and the chip can be cleaned. And being clean or dirty doesn’t effect how worn the chip is.

How many times do you see an auction that describes a chip as being in “fine condition”? What does fine condition mean? You can’t tell if the chip is very worn or slightly worn from that phrase. Or using the phrase “good condition, what does that mean? Does it mean I found a chip it in the basement that is as flat as a pancake but it looks to be in good condition?

You also stated “, I do not understand what those numbers in the rating system represent” Let me see if I can explain it better.
When I put a numerical number as it relates to the wear and tear, you can consider it as approximately how much clay or plastic is left on the chip from the time it was originally manufactured. So an 85 would mean 85% of the original composite is still left on the chip. And a 95 would mean 95% of the composite of the chip is still on the chip which is better than 85.
