The Chip Board Archive 20

grin Hi Jerry, my responce, LOVE you man grin

Well now, being that I have listed chips on the board and reduced the price twice I felt this was directed at me and deserved a response.

1. If someone buys an item for the full listed price and then a couple of hours later the price is reduced and someone else gets a bargain - How does the original buyer feel ??
I learned long ago not to buy any chip if I was not happy with the price. I wish that all chip buyers are happy with the price they pay for their chips. Please tell me what is the current fair price for a chip to sell? I always have a satisfaction guarantee with all my chips.

2. By constantly reducing prices on items - no one buys the item at full price and they just wait for the seller to reduce the price again. What has this accomplished ??
I really don’t know what full price is. When I want to sell a chip I take what I can and that becomes the sale price. This has accomplished a sale for me and not me returning it to a box on my shelf. I am not interested in holding on to a chip just so it will keep a puffed up price.

3. By constantly reducing prices - What message does this send to new and potentially new collectors ?? The Hobby is falling apart - prices are constantly being reduced. Why do I want to get into a hobby where the value of items is constantly dropping even by the hour ??
For some people the economy has fallen apart. A lot of people do not have the desire or finances to buy collectables. I was never in it to make a living. I would buy some chips that I thought would sell for more than I paid, but most of all I bought them because I liked them. Why should someone buy a house because many have dropped repeatedly over the last 4 years.

4. The day old bread syndrome - The baker sells the day old bread at half price. Eventually nobody ever buys a "fresh" loaf of bread at full price and simply waits to buy the day old bread. Result - The baker loses even more until he wises up and stops selling day old bread. It's better for the baker to throw away the day old bread then it is to sell it at half price.
Well now I do not think I will be throwing away any chips soon. If no one buys at (full price?) and I am ready to sell I will take what I can get.

I feel bad that chips do not sell for what they did in the past but I am not going to throw any away. I am always happy to make my deal right if someone is unhappy with any deal I make.

grin Having fun Steve grin
