I think........

that your expectation that sellers sit on chips until higher sales prices are realized is not realistic at any time, especially the times we find ourselves in now.
Some of us are taking fantastic (and no doubt well deserved) European vacations and some of us are wondering where the next mortgage payment is going to come from.
EVERYTHING is relative.
Any port in a storm.

And now a question for you.
Last week a chipper posted a request for a Palms Ozzy $100. I didn't have one and the display chips near the cage at the Palms stated that those chips were no longer available/sold out. I inquired at the cage and a friend dug through some chips and found one that had obviously been cashed in recently. (there are a TON of chips being cashed back in for face value all over town). The original poster was pointed in the direction of the Rizzo's web site where one was available for $199. I notified the poster that I had one and I was sure that we could work out a deal. He had already located the chip by the time I acquired one. I have no idea what he paid for the chip, but obviously he was willing to pay whatever it happened to be. Since I now had a $100 chip that I didn't want in my collection I had two options. I could just cash it back in and only be out the toke that I gave the guy for digging and finding the chip. I could offer it for sale. I have NO IDEA if Rizzo's $199 asking price is realistic. I posted it for sale at $150 inclusive of paypal fees and postage. It didn't sell.

In your world, what would YOU do with this particular $100 chip?

In my world, if anyone wants to make an offer on the $100 Ozzy, I'm listening....but not for long.
