"We've all read the latest lawsuit filed against eBay... how much impact do you think that'll have on users leaving negative comments? "
None, since the user/attorney who filed the suit has dropped that portion of the suit that was against eBay.
Anyone can file a lawsuit, especially if it's an attorney who has little or no costs, but that does not mean the suit has any merit.
"Do you really think that eBay's feedback system is "ours"? I don't!"
Yes, it is "ours" because we are free to post whatever we wish (subject to only few simple rules mandated by law).
My point is that eBay does not play "Mommy" or Playground Monitor, and get in the middle of our disputes, nor does eBay verify or justify comments left. It's "our" system, and the results, good or bad, reflect on the user community, not on eBay.
As an eBay user since very early on in the game (1996), once I forgot about what I thought the Feedback Forum should be, and concentrated on what it actually is, I've found it to be very helpful in evaluating both buyers and sellers. Not perfect, but very helpful.
I also believe that my feedback conveys valuable information to my buyers (and to my sellers) about how I approach trading on eBay, and what they can expect. I would never say that my feedback, or any feedback, is "totally worthless", which is what I posted in response to.
