Wuz up in Colorado?!?

This story is more complicated than it might appear on the surface.

If anyone wants to view current Colorado Gaming regulations, they are on the web at http://www.gaming.state.co.us

The Jazz Alley $5 for $10 at the cage is probably legal, but the lady is shooting herself in the foot with this move. Understand she owned the Gold Mine and took some hard losses there, but this move stinks.

The parent company that owns both the Double Eagle and Creekers in Cripple Creek filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy last month if I remember right. This was on the heals of a combined fine of $150,000 ($125,00 for the Double Eagle, $25,000 for Creekers) due to poor or improper accounting procedures.

The chip sets that they have issued (I haven't seen one yet) are supposed to be $1, $2.50, $5, and $25 Chipcos with $1, $2, and $5 tokens in the standard lucite holder. Looks like the casinos are sitting under a live bankruptcy filing and need to show the courts that they are doing everything that they can to show a profit at every area. Charging for the holders would explain that maybe....

To this, I must express an opinion. The manufacturer of the lucite holders has helped me fill holes in my specific area of chip collecting that I couldn't have filled, or could have at much greater expense. That said, he has also talked some casinos into making bad decisions concerning chip sets in the holders. Too many have released "collector only" sets that have been too restrictive on release numbers, been for events that aren't particularily eventful, or included $100 chips in a state that will allow you to bet $5 MAXIMUM per bet. There is something wrong with all three reasons. Sorry Bob, but that's how I feel (if you read this board).

I don't see any comparison to the Lodge GO set. That was $31.00 in chips and the holder for $100.

I have no idea who Paul is referring to who might be releasing a new $5 chip and trying to get $15 at the cage for it. Coyote Creek would come to mind, but they closed that casino Dec. 14th, probably for good.

My thoughts and knowledge as of tonight.

Happy Holidays to all!
Bob
