Exactly my sentiments Gene ... so; if "the chips are going to be made, regardless" ... what's wrong with them being identified for what they are? The club can't be a policeman for every chip sold at a yard sale and flea market throughout this country. Hell, we've alegedly got folks who are still producing brass core chips behind our backs and "restoring" holed, cracked and missing center inlays ... and club members are still buying them, knowing full well what they are.
The club has asked Mr. Whalen to mark or identify his product so that collectors can spot the fake from the real thing ... and here is a maker who promises to do exactly what we've requested of Mr. Whalen and go a step or two further and lots of folks are up in arms about it. Even Borland's fakes are popular with collectors today.
Time sure has a way of healing old wounds.
