Don, This came from a seller on Ebay who was selling a token from the set (1979 or 1980). He stated that the token he had for sale was an "extra" token not delivered from the main set. It was a mail in offer. This auction was on Ebay about 6 months ago. Unfortunately, I didn't get his name. After that, I have talked with other dealers who have heard claims of the "Holy Grail" sets. But no one I have talked to has seen one!

I actually own a couple of 1979 tokens that are in proof quality. One however, an MGM Grand 1979 token, is in proof quality, but has melted plastic on it (I would say it was packaged like the 1969 set). This may just be the way the MGM Grand Token was stored, but it seem odd that it has a mirror shine to it except the melted plastic on it.

Could there have been test sets created by the Franklin Mint?
