That’s right, Bob, I have no reason to own a truck. Of course, that was not the issue. The issue, as you put it, is “Guess its alright to put an American flag on your japenese (sic) car and call your self an American”. And my response to your comment is that one has nothing to do with the other. I am certainly as American as you are, as are the millions who own non-American cars.

Again, not the issue. There are “quality” American autos, but the issue is a comparative one… The quality of even the “quality” American autos are far below those of virtually ALL European and Asian autos. I do LOTS of homework before buying something as major as a car. In fact, why don’t you help me with this assignment… I would like for you to name for me a SINGLE American-label auto that is as good its direct foreign competition (and I’m not talking about trucks, since the Europeans and Asians are not in the large truck market…yet).

Again, jingoism. Buying an American car is not being loyal to America… it’s being loyal to GM or Ford or Chrysler (er…Daimler). If you want to stay loyal to a car company, that’s great… but if you’re telling me it’s because it’s an American car, then I can’t respect your reasoning. Loyalty is a great quality, Bob, but it’s utterly inappropriate when buying an inferior car. I am not ashamed of where I'm from, and, again, I suspect that the other millions of owners of foreign cars are not either.

And, I’m still waiting for you to look around the house and get back to me with those brand names!
