I'd compare it to if a person made a photocopy of a magazine article and posted it on the bulletin board at work. Say a co-worker took the article down, made a Xerox, and carefully put it back on the bulletin board. It wouldn't bother me at all. But apparently some people it does bother so in the interests of "all getting along" I guess it's better to ask.
