Marv, Don, John et all...I am NOT an LE collector but I do collect the convention chip as do many of us. I don't think I"m being a crybaby about this situation for the following reasons. Let's take the chip of the year as an example. How many of these chips are in collectors hands? How many of us on this board voted for this chip to be chip of the year? Now when the dealer(s) dump this chip & the price drops as all four of us know it will. How many unsatisfied collectors will get burned? How many will leave the hobby? How many will never shell out $50-70 for a chip again. How many will never collect Nevada chips? You see I think this type of thing effects very chip we chose to liquidate in the future. I think remaining silent condons this type of behavior. I saw a lot of high denom Dunes chips at the convention...more so than any other closed casino yet. Would I buy one? At what price? Is there a hoard out there? Probably? Do we talk about it? We don't. The new guy gets burned & is never seen or heard from again...Because I did when I started dosen't mean I have to sit back & watch it happen.
