That's sad, but not unexpected

At one time there were 3 casinos at Primm, just across the CA/NV state line. Plus 2 more in Jean, just up the road. All before you got to the outskirts of Las Vegas. You could see the 3 Primm casinos (Whiskey Pete's, Primadonna and Buffalo Bill's) from the long hill in California as you descended. That meant filling up with gas (on occasion), a pit stop or snack (on occasion) and live tables at all 3. And 2 more casinos in Jean - Gold Strike and successors plus Nevada Landing. That's all in recent times, not including stopping at Pop's Oasis or Kactus Kate's in the old days.

One by one they declined then closed. Now the mandatory 60-day WARN ACT notice to employees when a business shuts down. With better gas milage, I drive straight through to Las Vegas with gas to spare. Thinking back to my last 3 round trips from SoCal to LV and return, I stopped there exactly zero times. And those physical plants won't be cheap to maintain and have security protecting non-revenue producing buildings. Will most / all? of them be demolished at some point?

Now the only thing to see while driving northbound on I-15 will the the prison on the hill in Jean, above where Pop's Oasis used to be. sad

I guess that's reality, but it's still sad.
