Bill, a very interesting idea. I have long held...

that the CCA could well do with a CIO, a Chief Information Officer. The basic concept being, an individual with skills to structure and bring together the CCA's multifaceted, and in some instances ineffective, internet presence.

The CCA currently has it's Club website, with an add-on Message Board, the Museum of Gaming History's Greg Susong Digital Media Center, ChipGuide, the Museum of Gaming History, the Casino Collectibles News site, 2 CCA Facebook Groups, 2 Museum of Gaming History Facebook Groups, a purported Twitter account for the Museum of Gaming History, and domain names, server rental and the like.

I contend that all of this should sit with an Officer-level responsibility to lead and manage our Internet precedence in a unified manner, at the Board level. (Not an individual to write code, but work with those who do, and be knowledgeable of the technologies involved and have management skills in this tech world.)

There are typically 3 reasons why not that are given, whenever I broach this idea, as follows:

1. This can be done as at a Chairman or Director level.

2. Who could have the necessary skill-sets to fill the position.

3. An additional Board member, for a 5-member board, makes the board an even number, which risks ties in voting.

I believe that the position MUST be at the Officer level, otherwise it will fail without the proper authority to speak for the Board.

I believe that there are already several Club members that do have the skills necessary to do this, and we would need to offer the position at the Board-level to entice someone to step up.

I believe that rules can be worked out to avoid ties. For example, some Boards operate where the President does not have a vote except where ties happen. Or, perhaps create a 7th Board position as an At-Large position.

Just my thoughts on this overall suggestion.

Jim
