I first want to preface my comments by saying aside from a Jaguar that I own which I bought during the period that Ford owed the company, I have never purchased a vehicle that wasn't manufactured by the big 3 U.S. Automakers.
Nevertheless, I never really looked at the political aspect of this as closely as you, However I decided to do a little bit of research.
I found that not only was Ford involved in the largest recall of vehicles (12 Million in 2008) but the top 10 recalls of all time consisted of 4 by G.M,1 by Honda, 1 by Volvo, and 4 by Ford. Not one single one by Toyota

While I believe in buying American and while I have always questioned American trade policies allowing foreign companies to both flood and undercut American prices resulting in countless American jobs. Things are different now. Times have changed.
There really is no such thing as an American car anymore if you look closely.
Many of the Japanese models being sold here and manufactured here have more American content than U.S. Vehicles.

Please don't get me wrong, I don't support the Japanese auto industry foresaking American labor. I know where the profits wind up however this is nothing but a witch hunt.

The only thing that I can say is NOBAMA 2012 and it won't come soon enough.
I only hope I live long enough to be able to see this damage undone.
