Hi Archie, IMO I it's the same as UV marks. Yes, they are basically the same chip but if to that collector it is a variation, then it's a variation. There seem to be plenty of collectors out there doing the reverse inserts & UV thing, myself for one, and I find it adds a bit more to MY collecting experience. I enjoy finding a UV variant or other variant as much as I do getting a new chip. Horses for courses I believe is the saying. grin

On another note, I question the statement on the complete randomness of the inlay application. For example the P&O & Princess cruise lines chips made by Paulson. They are all candidates (about 30 of them) for the reverse insert variant but I'm yet to see even one that qualifies. I'm thinking that maybe there might be more strict direction given by some customers to the manufacturer regarding their chips?? These maybe the exception but whatever the case, gives me more to look for. grin
