Hi Rich,
The main reason is because title has passed to the buyer. The seller as a matter of good business practices allows the buyer to return the chip and title during a specified period of time. It is a courtesy and not something required for the seller do. The buyer now owns the chip and does not have to do anything. In addition, he certainly does not have to re-sell the chip back to you or the original seller. vbg
