A short political quiz ...

... the correct answers to which even you should be able to get, Stu:

Who is the only American president ever to resign from office in disgrace to avoid being impeached, convicted and removed from office involuntarily?

Who is the only American president ever to attain the office without having been elected either president of vice president (as a result of the resignations in disgrace of both the elected president and vice president)?

Who is the vice president referred to in the previous question?

Bonus question: How many of the foregoing individuals were democrats??? rofl

>> Liberals always have very short memories. President Nixon was handed
>> and had to try and clean up yet another Democratic mess. That's a fact.

No, that's an opinion, not a fact. What is a "fact" is that Nixon resigned from office. An opinion: He was the biggest disgrace in the history of American presidential politics. Oh, one other fact -- he was a Republican.

>> Your buddy seems to forget the double digit inflation and deep recession
>> created by the Carter administration which President Reagan then had to clean up.

Who said anything about Reagan? Whether he had to "clean up" after Carter is, again, a matter of opinion. But, while we're on the subject, here's a fact for you. The national debt increased under Reagan from less than one trillion dollars -- a figure which took more than 200 years to reach -- to more than three and a half trillion dollars eight years later. That's $3,500,000,000,000. Meaning that it increased $2.5 trillion during Reagan's administration. We are still paying the interest on that debt, as will our children and grandchildren and perhaps our great-grandchildren if someone doesn't fix things (which, BTW, GWB is not doing -- in fact, he's making it worse).

>> It was the economic strength of the Reagan/Bush adiministrations that
>> were handed to the Clinton administration that once again converted
>> it to a recession for a Republican administration to fix.

You and I must live in parallel universes. The U.S. I lived in from 1992 to 2000 enjoyed a boom in economic prosperity and the federal government took in record tax surpluses.

The National Bureau of Economic Research, a private, nonpartisan research group which tracks the official peaks and troughs of the U.S. economy reports that the economy began to contract in March of 2001, two months after Bush was inaugurated. This came at the end of the longest period of economic expansion in U.S. history. Under Bill Clinton, in 1999 alone more than 3 million new jobs were added to the economy. In 2000, the year in which republicans are now claiming that the country was "spiraling into recession," almost 2 million new jobs were created.

>> The Democratic record is one of disaster.

It's wide sweeping generalities like that which make your opinions so worthless, Stu. Have democrats made mistakes in the past? Of course. Have they also made some accomplishments of note? Of course. Can the same be said of republicans? Of course. Some of our best presidents have been republicans, some have been democrats. Some of our worst presidents have been republicans, some have been democrats. Some from each party have been mediocrities. Only the most obtuse, small-minded and short-sighted among us can't see (or admit) that there is good, bad and mediocre in both parties. Oh, wait -- obtuse, small-minded and short-sighted -- that explains it!

>> It's all a matter of record but liberals can't be bothered with actual facts.

Most of what you have to say is a matter of opinion, not facts, with which you appear to have only a passing acquaintance.

And, speaking of short memories, Stu, I'm having trouble remembering when you answered my question:

Where did I "openly threaten" you with "the apparently secret 'do not trade list'"?

Oh, wait (again), maybe it isn't my memory after all. Maybe you haven't answered that question yet. Maybe I'm still waiting with baited breath (good thing I'm not holding it completely). Maybe you just don't have balls enough to admit you made that accusation falsely.

Or maybe you're just (and still) full of OOOOMPAH -- OOOOMPAH.
