Thanks for your input. In this chip there is no wear pattern around the "DA" in the other "NEVADA". I checked the front and back.

I see now with the sample molds you have shown how the process works. I was wondering how they could match any mold. So the repair could be on any chip whether it be new, used or anything inbetween right. They take an impression from the other side of the chip and use that for the mold right? Dastardly... but clever. Still seems like there would would a line of messed up cross-hatching where the new mold meets the old chip area.

What about some chips that have specks in the color. Like older mustard colored chips seem to have a lot of black specks in them. Can they match that or will it look more like a solid color area.
