In Response To: Joe W. Brown's Horsehoe ()

What are you questioning, Jim? During the years around 1953-1956, Bennie Benion was in the federal pen for tax evasion. During that time, his name could not be connected with anything regarding his casino. His good friend and former partner in several Dallas illegal casinos, Joe W. Brown, agreed to have his name on all of Binion's gaming operations, casino name, chips, matches, ashtrays, the whole nine yards. The chips used during this period are the H.C.E. mold hot-stamped chips with the "INIO" scratched out, leaving "B----N's, which could stand for BROWN'S. When Bennie got out in '56, his name returned to the marquee, Brown's name went bye-bye and new chips were ordered.
