You are probably right, most of them would like to have a real job, and I am sure that statement infuriates them, judging by their responses. That’s the whole point of that response.

Let’s see…. Setting up shop in a high unemployment area is a good thing? Or is it a way to find desperate people out of work that are easier to exploit? I wonder how many people (ones who do the calling) retire from those places after a long and happy career.

And this work… Is it noble work? Work to be proud of? You admitted in your post you find it “quite irritating” and by your post you paid money for devices to enable you to avoid contact with them (Caller ID & answering machine that is being used for screening). I think the vast majority of the public is just like you in finding telemarketing a nuisance, quite irritating, and not a desired service. Look how many people do just as you in buying caller ID’s, answering machines, other devices just to avoid them. Maybe these people could be traned to sent SPAM! Another great service!

Like I said use response #1 first… be nice. When you have had enough use response #2. It gets it off your chest…. Until the NEXT call.
