I have tried to get them to remove me from their list when they call but often as I'm trying to blurt out my request, THEY'RE hanging up on me. It's quite irratating but I'm sure that is what they're instructed to do.

As far as telling them to get a real job, I would guess that most of the folks doing the telemarketing gig would much prefer some other form of employment but are doing it because there's not much else available so I'm not going to go there. Telemarketing firms typically set up shop in communities that traditionally have high levels of unemployment or depressed wage levels for the folks that are employed (like the Wichita, KS metro area where I live).

As far as caller ID goes, if it says UNAVAILABLE, or ANONYMOUS, we're not answering. If it's someone trying to get ahold of us, we listen for them on our answering machine & then pick up. Caller ID is a wonderful invention!
