Good subject, I'm new 1 year. I sell 30 a weekend. I sell chips for low prices, and charge 2.00 for shipping and handling. I go to the post office daily, wait 15-20 min. send first class in a bubble mailer, chips are in a plastic zip lock bag. I use a nice address label. Now I could increase the price on the chip 1.00 and only charge 1.00 s&h? Also, e-bay fees are cutting my profit greatly as I only sell 30-35% of what I list. So I feel a little profit on s&h helps with fees. I want to be fair. Thanks for any input. Fred Lamb R-5294 (docschips)

I also sell chips for low prices (but usually because that's all there worth.) Instead of going to the post office everyday and waiting in line for 15-20 minutes, why don't you just buy a postage scale and a bunch of stamps and mail them from your mailbox? I also use a bubble wrapper, nice labels and a plastic zip lock bag. So what's the big deal.
It cost $0.57¢ to mail up to 4 chips in a bubble wrap and $0.80¢ to mail up to 8 chips in the same bubble wrapper. The bubble wrappers cost $0.11¢ each in bulk ( I haven't bought a bubble wrapper in years as I just reuse the ones I receive.)
So for 4 chips, it cost me a maximum of $0.57¢ in postage, plus $0.11¢ for the wrapper and maybe a penny for electricity, tape and a label. A maximum of $0.80¢.
Any e-bay fees should be added to the cost of the chip (as you suggested, add an additional $1.00 to the chip price if you must) but don't give me any crap about how fair it is to charge $2.00 additional for shipping and handeling.
Besides that, you are gyping e-bay out of their percentage of your sale price by charging the seller an outrageous charge for shipping.
And in case your interested, I do, in fact, charge more than my cost. I charge $1.00 just to round it off, but would gladly reduce the bill by $0.20¢ if anyone asked.
If I sell a chip on ebay, I do it with the intent of making money from the sale of the chip, not from lining my pockets from excess postage charges.
