Re: Chip trading etiquette question?

I haven't gotten into much trading yet. However there are a couple of things to consider. Based on the types of trading that I have been interested in getting into here are some thoughts. First, there are RRs or Round Robins(?). Are these the same as Shotguns and if not what is the difference? Anyways, with those types of trading there is a specified face. If say it is $5 than you would assume that those involved in the swap are mainly or only interested in $5 denominations. Therefore, it might not be too good if you sent a $5 collector a bunch of $1 chips. For swaps like is mentioned you should keep to the specs of the swap. If it is $5 than send a $5 chip. If the swap specifies LE than the chips should be an LE. If it says Riverboat, than your chip should be a Riverboat.

On the other hand there are the private trades you might get involved in. Those can go however you and the other collector(S) specify. It would not be uncommon for say a $5 chip to be rather rare and worth say $20. In a case like that It might be acceptable that a good trade might be that you would provide say a $10 and a $5 and 5 $1s, if that is what you and the other party agrees. Maybe your $10 is a little older and is worth $15 and the other person agrees to that and say a common newly released $5 house in exchange for his rare $5 LE. If that is agreeable to Him/Her, and You than it is fair and acceptable. I would always check with your trading partner though to see what is agreeable to them. Some I have noticed are in this strictly for the enjoyment and getting as much Artwork, (as I like to think of it,) as they can. They may collect any and all denominations and would be glad to trade for Face for Face or even 5 $1 for a $5.
