Good point and I think you are right. Now here is an interesting question. Let's say that you found a first issue $5 Sands that you (or maybe an older relative) got for face value and tucked in an underwear drawer for 45 years. Suddenly, you decide you need a new boat and want to send that off to the CCGTCC auction. How much do you insure it for????

Interesting thought... what would the post office be inclined to let you insure it for? (forgetting the $5k max for a minute.) I wonder if you could really justify anything over the $5.

Do we have any lawyers, post office employees, or insurance experts?
