Bottom line .... computer does not recognize scanner after shutdown.... I must un-install scanner software and re-install software with scanner unplugged .... then plug in scanner and software continues loading where it left off and locates drivers for scanner. Then PC must re-start before I can use scanner. That procedure is unacceptable (to me). It's easier just to leave the PC on 24/7 and turn off the monitor during the week.

I'll shut down the PC when I go away for the weekends ... and un-install and re-install scanner software on Monday morning if I have to ... and go from there.
