My computer is on 24/7. The only time I power down is when I am going to be out of town or when we are having some sort of problem with it. And in the latter case, we aren't really shutting down but rebooting it. My computer tech also told me that it's hard on the hard drive & the power supply to shut it down & fire it back up everyday.
