Re: INFORMATION: A $5 Las Vegas Club chip surfaces on a DOTS mold.

Hi Jim....Nice to hear from you, as it's been some time. First, I'd like to say that most certainly everyone is entitled to their opinion....and, I have no problem with anyone questioning where a chip may or may not be from (as I, too, have asked the same question many times in the last 10-years) -- nor do I think anyone is out of line when they question such. The one thing I don't understand, though, is: why do those in doubt not have the same "concrete evidence" you speak of to disprove where the chip is from, especially when the chip has the same exact text as the other chips from the casino. I could see if the text was in script, Gothic or whatever, but it's exactly as seen on all the other early-Las Vegas Club chips. If you will read my initial information posting, you will note I mention some dates. It's fact that the DOTS mold is recorded to have been in production from 1930 to 1946. Do you know of another casino, anywhere, with the same exact name as Las Vegas Club during those years? If you did, Jim, would you call the chip as being from there? If so, why? Would one of the reasons be that there were other series of chips that looked exactly the same and are known to be from that club (during the years 1930-1946)? Would that constitute the "concrete evidence" you mention for the chip being from that club/casino? Probably a big YES! OR, if not, why (I know 'concrete evidence')? Now, Jim, given the facts (and fantasy) mentioned above, which casino/club would you call the chip being from? Remember, we're dealing with both fact (the same Las Vegas Club hot stamp inlay design) and fantasy (the unknown club). Which would you choose, Jim (remember, where dealing strictly with fact)? I think it would be the joint at 18 Fremont Street, Downtown, Las Vegas, Nevada - USA!!! One thing I do know for sure, though: this is the only chip I have and it's common knowledge how I obtained it: from eBay Auctions. I'm greatful the listing didn't include the word "casino," because if it had, I think a lot more serious collectors/dealers would have found it using eBay's search engine and would have been bidding on it. It was tough enough for me to come in when I did (and I was in there with a few well-known, professional, collector/dealers, all playing out our bluff as to who was going to do what -- and when! With all due respect, Jim; Don, I do realize you both have, and I agree with, a legitimate request for support, as I know it's very important for us all to lay the stepping stones for tomorrow's collectors, and I do hope you now have the support you need to not have a reasonable doubt that this chip is most likely (and until you prove differntly - with substantial fact) from 18 Fremont St. Las Vegas, Nevada....AND, until then, I'm calling it as I see it!!! Now! You did hit a soft spot: KENTUCKY and TEXAS; two, of several, of the finest states in the South to have produced gambling establishments and chips....and, to be very honest with you: It would be an honor for me to know I located any chip from such locals after learning it was not from Nevada -- as Nevada is not the end of the road! So, let us not take up anyones valuable time (and disk space), as there are more important and fun things to talk about within our bulletin boards.

You, too, have a good day, Jim, and thanks for your input.
