Is it really even a coin?

According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary: "A coin is typically a small, flat, round piece of metal issued by a government to be used as money."

Isn't the Liberty Bell item really just an odd-shaped medallion or novelty?

And I agree, Robert - doesn't seem to be the intended function of the US Mint to issue oddball novelties.
