No, I don't have to vacate the Secretary position. No Board Member has to vacate a position to run in a Special Election.
If there is a contested election and I am successful then I appoint my replacement. If there is no contest then another Special Election is held for Secretary.
It's laid out in the constitution. This particular area was defined in a constitutional amendment maybe 15 years ago.
