Thanks Michael...

This was just thinking out loud. The name "HistoryNevada" that I mention is the type of name that funders like. Cultural councils fund 501c3 organizations as part of their business. City, County, and state funders are the same. They have panels of people that review their grant applications and they award grants from budgeted money set aside specifically for this purpose. I've been on these panels. Half the time the reviewers don't fully review the proposals. They look at the name on the top and they look at the project description and they vote to fund or not. I personally think that the word "gaming" takes away more than it adds. "Gaming" has a lot of different meanings. But the name is not the mission. By the way... Google MOGH and see what you find. This is just a general observation... MOGH is ok... It's a miracle that the club after all this time of having a 501c3 is finally going after grant funding. Hats off to the BOD for this effort. In my world that is the only reason you would file for a 501c3 otherwise, it's not worth all the work. A mission statement for "HistoryNevada" could be "Archiving and educating the public about Nevada's rich gaming history along with the gaming history of the world."

If you were going to start an organization from scratch or reorganize one, it would be good to rethink everything, not to change everything but to design an organization that works. If we start writing for grants now... we will have to submit the CC>C articles anyway because they are required as part of the applications. At least we will be now be located in Nevada and be able to access their grant channels. NY has a lot more competition for grant money.
