Robert,

I was giving some thought to your comment "...error/variation, depending on your interpretation of the two." I am interested in how various people draw that line.

Here is my first thought: any variation (planned or otherwise) would likely show up in additional specimens, while an error is something unintentional that somehow got past quality control and rejection by the casino. Very few errors should have been produced and far less should have made it into distribution/table play.

All input and opinions on this matter from ChipGuide members are welcome
