Consider getting approved as a trusted traveler. There is a fee, and a delay of a few weeks, and you have to have a personal interview. I got approved last month. You use your card with electronic data inside instead of a passport. They give you a metal lined folder with the card to keep others from evesdropping the info on your card.

If you are a very frequent traveler, your airline may invite you to qualify for PreCheck directly. I didn't get the invite, but the GOES program is another way for anyone to get in line for TT status without an invitation.

Note: the Global Entry approval you get is primarily for those who travel from US to Canada or Mexico, BUT...

You also get Trusted Traveler status which usually lets you bypass the normal lines for even domestic travel at US airports and use the PreCheck line. Keep your shoes, belt, jacket on, and lines are usually short. Not all airports and all airlines have the PreCheck lines yet, but most large ones will this year. I know DFW has them, and AA, Delta, and Alaska Air participate. You don't show your card; put your TT number in when you book your reservation and your boarding pass gets coded appropriately.
