I have had two crashes in the past 5 or 6 years and both times have successfully restored all of my files from Carbonite. It may have been something to do with how you selected the files to be backed up. The only files I lost (which are now stored daily in an externally running Hard Drive, were my archived emails.

It's amazing, isn't it, the trouble we go to to preserve many files that we will forget and never see again. The only ones that really hurt for me are the photos and letters that can never be replaced if they are lost!!
