I hate to be a party-pooper, but I was badly burned by Carbonite. After buying their subscription service, I had a computer crash and needed to restore my documents. I ran the Carbonite restore, but lost more than half my files.

I then invested in an external hard drive backup, which runs constantly, and which doesn't cost all that much more than Carbonite does. Fortunately, when I've needed it, it's worked!

I did not renew Carbonite, and would not recommend it to anyone.
