Puerto Rico never had their own coinage.

As a colony of Spain and then the USA, Puerto Rico was granted the use of both foreign currencies...

They never had their own "coinage..."

Only a government can produce a coinage.

There were many types of coins, tokens and paper used in Puerto Rico, but they never had their own under a coinage while they were under either government.
