I don't think any bit of advice is going...
In Response To: Why I hate online poker ()

I don't think any bit of advice or sympathy that anyone here has to offer is going to help you in stopping to blame online poker. Some people just feel online poker is rigged and that's that.

After being a computer programmer for over 20 years, I know that anything is possible when you sometimes have people (or even greedy people) writing gaming systems. I would like to think that poker stars is fair but heck we've come to learn that other poker sites have had issues so I guess one would never knows for sure. There are some interesting theories out there on why poker sites might be allowing big hands to come up more often. I would like think that they are raking in so much money that they wouldn't want to mess it up but who knows for sure...

I have played quite a bit of poker online and in live poker rooms too but by no means am I an expert. I have come to the opinion that anytime I get my money all-in, my gut always has a bad feeling in it even when I have the best hand starting out. I get this bad feeling regardless if I am playing live or online. I guess my point is that I've come to learn that sometimes it is better to see a flop (and maybe other streets too) with big pairs just so I have the chance to get away from a hand if the board materializes into something that is not good for me. (Especially in tournaments if I have enough chips to be patient and wait for better spots where I know I have a hand closer to the nuts).

Warning boring poker stories: Once during a live tournament I was dealt pocket Aces and raised it up and I was re-raised by another player. I called him with the expectations of trying to get him all-in after the flop. The flop had a King on it and his hand was shaking big time when he tried to place out a bet. I held my cards up and said I think I need to fold these and I folded them face up. He showed pocket kings and he had flopped trip kings. That's one of the biggest lay downs I've ever made where I found out it was correct.

In a different tournament I've also folded pocket kings after the flop and the other guy showed ten-ten in the hole. I had him beat but he got me to lay them down after he re-raised me all-in. So it's not like I've been perfect but at least in both cases, I didn't get whacked on a hand that I didn't have control over or at least know where I was at. With said, you will probably see me try to get all-in preflop with Aces most chances I get. But I also realize that they are only 4-to-1 favorite heads up against another pair and even less successful with multiple opponents. (see photo below).

Also in a live $3/$6 cash game, I flopped two different full-houses (in one night at the same table) and the other players rivered quads on me.

Did you happen to see the WSOP 2008 Championship on ESPN? When they got down to the bubble, it was unreal how many bad beats were shown on players trying to survive. I also saw on one of the WPT final table shows a few years back where a guy needed runner runner 8's to win a hand and percentage displayed was less than one percent but yet he hit them both.
