Atlantic City
In Response To: Is Vegas really Dying? ()

Atlantic city is also in about the same shape.
The thing that is bothersome is that the heirarchy in most cases has totally lost touch with customer service. They are more concerned with preserving their jobs
Many of the casino's are now owned by banks or large conglomerates and all they are concerned with is the bottom line, return to the shareholder and to achieve that they only think of ways to cut services, comps etc. If the brass doesn't perform, they will soon be gone too so the new norm is smoke and mirrors.

Last week or so, it was reported that the Borgota laid off 400 workers.
A friend that deals poker there now has to work overtime. Things like that just don't make sense and I just wanted to add, thatthese are part timers so there is no savings for the casino on any benefits package

What is sad is that rather than looking at the old concept of having to spend money to make money, all they have been able to do is point fingers at gas prices, the economy, outside competition and smoking bans.
YES, that does play into it, it plays into it a lot but it isn't the entire picture. You still have to take care of the customer and entice them to come, be it show tickets, a toaster, a free room or a coin coupon

Restaurant hours have been cut, projects have come to a standstill, quality of food has dropped dramatically, security has suffered, Just last week the Trump organization said that they would only spend money on emergency items. all of this is a perfect recepie for disaster.

I think that was already proven by what occured at the Tropicana here.
They managed to run that property into the ground so far that the ownership was not granted re licensing and is now being forced to sell
