I ran into this problem when I had merchandise shipped to L.A. for a record convention. The convention ran Friday - Saturday - Sunday after Thanksgiving. Only one out of four boxes arrived before Thanksgiving and was available to me. It arrived on Wednesday. As expected, UPS was shut down for Thanksgiving. Not as expected, they also shut down on Friday (day after T'giving). And they don't deliver on Saturday. And they don't work on Sunday.

The remaining boxes arrived at the hotel on Monday while I was already in my plane back to Detroit. Fortunately, the hotel staff (following my instructions) shipped them back to me. Of course, I paid for shipping both ways (plus a tip to the staff) and lost out on 75% of my sales opportunity that weekend.

That was the last time I used UPS.
