Newport Oregon Report (long, many scans) Part I

I am writing about another Newport, a nice little beach community in the middle of the Oregon coast, a little place that most of the people on the board will never see. A relative moved there, and last year, 2006, I finally got the chance to spend a week there. Before I arrived, I asked the help of chippers on the board to find gaming locations in the area. Newport is near Chinook Winds, which is about 45 minutes north along the coast. I hoped to pick up a few chips.

Newport is a charming place with four distinct areas. It has a beach front area near the lighthouse, a downtown section, a shopping district along the Northern end of the coastal area and the historic bay front which is reached by taking a left at the lighthouse, going past a picturesque bridge and entering a small, quaint wharf area. It was a terrific place to spend a week.

After that, I began to collect chips from Newport, Oregon. This year, my relative moved away, but kindly went to certain addresses I provided and took some pictures. These, together with my pictures from last year and my chips have led to this report. The details have been culled from research on the internet, my personal experiences and information from Jodi at Casino Collectibles and Steve Goodrich.
