Re: You're "taking offers" on something you don't

Mark stated:

1. "Not trying to bust your chops, but yours was just an approach I haven't seen here before".

2. "I'm not interested, but if I were, I wouldn't have a clue whether I should offer $10 or $1,000. As a result, I wouldn't offer anything."

3. "That said, I certainly wouldn't expect you to buy it and ship it to somebody for your cost only, even though others might be willing to do so."

My replies:

1. Glad I can bring a different approach. People act as middlemen all the time. However, to me, this is no different than someone saying "I am going to casino X tomorrow. I don't own any of their chips right now, but here is a scan of their chips and if you want any, plmk and I will see what I can do."

2. I have no clue what this item is worth to anyone. If someone were interested, they would make an offer based on their perceived level of interest in acquiring this item. Someone not interested in this item wouldn't make an offer. Pretend it's an item on ebay that is stated Make An Offer or whatever they call it. I just didn't put the item on ebay, I am offering it here because I know some collectors specialize in Flamingo items and might have an interest.

3. Of course not. If it is worth it to buy it at its' posted price and someone else thinks it is worth more to them and I can make a buck, what is wrong with that? The is the free market system after all. I didn't create it. No different than selling chips. You only do so in most cases if you profit from the sale. Why should I not be able to try to do so as well?
