Ok, if the long version of the story is required to offer an item for sale, here you go. I spoke to the owner of the antique shop and she agreed to place the Flamingo clock on hold for me for one week. I told her I may want to buy it and they have a reserve program in this shop. Their sign there says "reserves and layaways welcome". I made all my other purchases from her yesterday so she had no problems holding one of the tens of thousands of items in her shop for a potential buyer. I don't see the issue here. I have an item available if someone wants it. If anyone does, I will purchase the item and then sell it. Technically it belongs to me since it is on reserve in my name and the antique owner has agreed not to sell it to anyone else for one week.
