If the guy had an AK and just called,I am assuming that you did not put him on that hand since he did not reraise preflop?You say that you "knew" that you had the best hand after the flop with your A-2 yet,you never saw the AK in the button's hand as he did not raise before the flop,right?So,with that in mind,now that the flop is A-10-2,why did you think that you "knew" that someone could not possibly be playing an Ace-10? There was a raise after you bet the $800 and an all in call.You mean to tell me that you saw no warning signs there? Yes,you were ahead but the point is,you got involved much too late with that raggy kicker.If you raise preflop and the button then comes over the top you could have released that hand and saved yourself alot of money.Even if he calls your feeler raise and perhaps the other person also calls,you then have to be on your guard.The point is...you had A-2 and had no idea where you stood before the flop,so even if you hit that A...what are you hoping to beat if someone else has an Ace with a better kicker?EVERY KICKER beats the 2.
It does not help the fact that you seemed to have been in a game with a couple of donkeys to begin with and those donkeys will suck out on you frequently.
Did the two of them play that hand poorly?Probably they did, BUT.....that A-2 has disaster written all over it.I see people play A-rag all of the time and they lose way more than they win.I understand that you want to see a cheap flop but I still would have thrown out a good size feeler bet preflop and,I would have never called that all in unless I had a ton of chips to play with.Even if you are ahead(which you were),between them they had more outs than you,and if they hit THEIR kicker(and donkeys do)...you are dead!
What would have happened if,when you limped in preflop,the button or blinds would have raised? Would you have played back at them or still have wanted to see that flop?
That's my take anyway.
Anyone else out there in pokerland have an opinion?
