Allan, I couldn't see your chips, but I feel your pain. I bought an HP AIO that, frankly, sucks. Any chip with day-glo type colors just wash right out, though the others seem to do fine. I've resigned myself to taking bad pictures with my cheapie Fuji digital of those chips that won't scan correctly.
