Window and Windshield Glass acts as a filter to UV

light. Naturally, it doesn't block it entirely, as can be seen by the fading of anything pigmented after a long enough exposure. However, you won't get sunburned nearly as easily from light through a window as you will with the windows open or the top down.

David is correct that the heat on a dashboard in the sun will likely have more effect than the UV through the windshield. That said, you'll also notice what effect the UV and heat will have on the adhesive, too. You might find that the adhesive becomes brittle as the polymer cross-linkage breaks down that it might start peeling off of the chip.

BTW - You man be interested to know that adhesive, paint, polymer, paper, pigment, and myriad other manufacturers use UV and other aging tests based on the exposure of test plates or parts in Florida.
