That is what it says, I agree Dick. But the implication is that it's an early form of security device, since the more sophisticated methods are also mentioned.

I guess if a salesman can sell UV as a protection that a customer will pay for, that's all that counts [g].

The kinds of process monitors I was thinking of include date coding and lot identification. Of course, there are also the kinds of thing that the Apple Mac designers did when they put their names inside the case, or hid their names in obscure parts of the code. Maybe just ego?
