Re: Reason for UV marking
In Response To: Reason for UV marking ()

Hey Don,

I doubt that the UV markings are process markings,

0) Manufacturers documentation and web site indicate that UV markings are "security features" - check out page 9 of the pdf at:
http://www.gpigaming.com/pdf/US_Chips.pdf
There GPI (Paulson, BG & BJ new company name) talks about the security features of UV as well as adding a custom Logo in UV.

Also note:
1) Not all chips have UV markings
2) Process markings are either alignment (simple "X" or "+" within a circle, Triangle, or...) or for quality control - which in the case of the Four Queen's chip with the Princess Cruise Line Logo and the two "Paulson" certainly didn't work here:

3) Why do the manufacturers (such as Paulson) charge to adding a VU mark to the cost of the chips (if memory serves me it added 5c per chip). I'm sure Gene can chime in here to correct the amount.
4) Some of the UV markings are the casino name/logo or owner's name on them - again seems unlikely to be a process monitor...

Just a few thoughts...

Regards,
Dick
