Re: NCR - Movie Paper 3
In Response To: NCR - Movie Paper ()

Here's one from The Cincinnati Kid. I found a lot to like in this movie and have been reading the book lately also. Surprised to find out that there is a great deal of information in the book that relates to Kentucky illegal joints and the the area gamblers. The movie uses Jessup's thin story to make a great movie, one case where Hollywood improved upon the book! Hoping to get time to relate what I've found in ...Kid one of these days.

So why might you be interested in these movie items? As I've said, these things give context to the chips in our collections at times. Cowboy poker players, ladies and gentlemen casino players in dresses and suits and Nick and Nora on a gambling ship. I couldn't be there in the day but I can watch Elvis and Ann-Margret chase around and Bambi and Thumper work out with 007 in bygone Las Vegas. I got into these in a round-about way through Robert Eisenstadt, thanks Robert! Check out his site for more info. It's affordable and fun to research, great conversation starters as most folks aren't aware of this stuff. Something to consider.
