If you are going to use msconfig go slow

From the voice of experience, don't disable a bunch of stuff all at once. Disable 1 or 2 things and reboot to see if there are any adverse effects. Then if need be, you can disable more things.

If you turn off several things and it causes a serious problem you will have numerous possibilities when trying to debug instead of 1 or 2.
