You may already know about this but when you flight was cancelled (in the middle of your trip) you can due what is called a Rule 240. When this happens you can give your ticket to any airline and they will honor it. It happened to me once were my airline told me that there were absolutely no flights out that night. I took my ticket to another airline and not only did I get home but I was in first class.

Airline travel is a lot like gambling - anyone can do it but if you know the rules and regulations you can get a leg up on the house.
