Re: Question On Drilled Chips
In Response To: Question On Drilled Chips ()

Jim,

I'll take a stab at your question.

For those that know me know that I have some drilled chips in my small collection. I decided a long time ago that I would rather have a drilled chip (that I'm looking for) than no chip at all. I should clarify that I am not referring to more common chips that are found in both drilled and undrilled condition.

I know there are some collectors that wouldn't be caught dead with a cancelled chip in their possession. They do not see any value in the chips at all. I fully understand the position that they have taken because it is right for them.

For me, however, If you want a chip, and you find it in cancelled condition, then I would suggest that you go for it. Someday you may have a chance to upgrade; but then again, you may not. And that's the key; the opportunity may not present itself.

Yes, drilled chips do grow in value, and typically at a similiar ratio as the undrilled chips.

So far, no one has looked at my collection and said "you moron, it has a hole in it"! To the contrary, they called me a moron BEFORE they saw the collection. rofl
