I have been the victim of very slow delivery from USPS on several occasions. Once however, I assumed the package was really lost forever. It managed to show up about six months later. I guess as many packages I have sent; I have really been fortunate that I have never had one lost permanently. I must admit about ½ of the packages I send out are insured or have delivery confirmation.

BTW, I have run into a little trouble with delivery confirmation lately at some post offices. They want the package sent priority mail. They claim the package must be at least ¾ inches think to be considered a parcel that you could send first class with delivery confirmation. Anyone else have this problem?
